Usually just cotton briefs. I do not go commando although I know many people prefer to. I like my boys to be under control.
Nylon swim trunks are fine but I find them bulky under my jeans. I do like the idea of briefs made of a smooth material that rinses off easily and dries quickly but haven't found the perfect thing yet. I haven't come across that perfect underwear with the right combination of being flexible, comfortable, durable and inexpensive. Maybe someday I will.
