I have been looking at some other swimwear options.
Although I don't play the game I did look at golf trousers, I don't play polo or rugby either but that has not stopped me buying swim shirts. Adidas had some in a nice five pocket style similar to jeans, but before I could work out if they would be suitable to get wet without wearing underwear all the normal sizes and colours sold out.
I have brought a pair of Under Armour cargo trousers. Very similar to woven tracksuit bottoms but with convenient zip pockets. These are too expensive and contain elastane so they won't be going in a swimming any time soon. I have tested them in the shower and they do pass the no underwear wet test.
